DELIVERY DRIVER/WAREHOUSEMAN

Overview

The primary purpose of this job is to safely and efficiently deliver and install home furnishings and mattresses within the agreed-upon time frame, ensuring the customer is completely satisfied with the items delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Check furniture to ensure it is in excellent condition prior to loading the truck.
  • Accurately and safely load the truck, checking items against the sales order.
  • Deliver and install furniture in a safe manner and within the agreed-upon timeframe.
  • Pickup haul-away items in accordance with company policy.
  • Report any delivery issues to management, being sure to record information on paperwork.
  • Take photographs of any damages/issues, along with the serial numbers of each defective piece.
  • Document start and end times at each stop for productivity purposes.
  • Confirm all electric items (power recliners, adjustable beds, etc.) work prior to leaving the stop.
  • Wipe down furniture once delivered, and remove any packaging materials from the home.
  • Provide world-class customer service.
  • Unload any returned or haul-away items in designated warehouse area or showroom.
  • Utilize helper to spot when driving the box truck in reverse or navigating tight areas.
  • Fold blankets and store equipment and supplies in an effort to keep the truck organized.
  • Perform checklist of truck to ensure all equipment and supplies are available.
  • Support warehouse functions as needed, including receiving trucks, tagging sold items, and general organization/cleanliness of the warehouse.
  • Drivers are assisted by the Delivery Helper.
  • Delivery Driver productivity standard is approximately 10 deliveries/day.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent or at least 1 year of commercial driving experience with a van and/or vehicle up to the size of a 20-foot box truck.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license and safe driving record

SALES ASSOCIATE

As a Sales Associate with Durango Furniture & Mattress, you will be required to meet sales and profit objectives by providing excellent customer service, maintaining a customer-focused store, and keeping accurate records of all transactions.

Provide excellent customer service in the following ways:

  • Present, promote and sell new and used furniture through consultative selling to existing and prospective customers
  • Perform needs analysis of existing/potential customers through probing, and offer furniture items to meet their needs and budget
  • Establish, develop and maintain positive relationships with customers and coworkers
  • Reach out to customer leads through consistent follow-up (phone, text, email, etc.)
  • Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction
  • Achieve agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within scheduled time frame established by management
  • Coordinate sales effort with team members and other stores/departments
  • Know your competition by keeping abreast of local sales/advertisements/promotional offers
  • Supply management with reports and updates on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
  • Continuously improve through feedback ​

Maintain a professional, customer-focused store in the following ways:

  • Ensure used furniture is re-conditioned to its full potential
  • Ensure all items in the store are clearly and correctly priced per company guidelines
  • Flow product through the store by taking interim mark-downs as needed on old-age inventory
  • Merchandise store in a way that is inviting and helps customers envision the items in their homes through attractive, thought out displays and vignettes
  • Keep the showroom clean by vacuuming, dusting, polishing as needed
  • Maximize sales and product offerings by utilizing floor space to its highest and best use.  Create displays that allow for the highest volume of items in the smallest amount of space​

Ensure accurate record-keeping and financial reporting in the following ways:

  • Ensure all customer data collected is complete, accurate, and kept confidential
  • Process payments in a timely fashion
  • Nothing enters or leaves the store without a paper trail.  This is especially important when purchasing used items from an individual
  • Balance the cash drawer daily, accounting for any discrepancies
  • Complete sales and payment reports daily, and ensure they are accurate prior to sending to the office along with invoices and any other requested paperwork

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent or at least 1 year of retail sales
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Proficient with office machinery, telephones, and PC’s
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have reliable transportation
